David Thomas RIBA was born in Devon and later moved to Yorkshire. He has been following two careers – as an architect and an artist – but has recently taken early retirement from architecture in order to concentrate on painting. David’s architectural background together with a love of the English landscape and watercolour tradition inspires much of his painting. Typical subjects are often architectural, set in a landscape or seen through trees. His work has been shown at the Open Winter Exhibition at the Ferens Art Gallery, Hull, at the Taylor-Pick Fine Art Gallery, Beverley, and at the Sadler Street Gallery, Wells, with which he has been associated for over five years, painting many views of the Cathedral, city and the surrounding countryside.
